Here at Catholic America Today, one of our efforts is to fight the use of pornography on the internet. That fight needs to start at home with in yourself. I ask myself is my family worth it? Yes, of course they are. I have to pray daily for strength not to get wrapped up in to a life style that I had become accustom to living.
The bible has many references on how we are to live our life. It is a road map if it were on what God intended for us to do. I like all of us have to continually look at that map to make sure I am on the right path. I fell across this website that was against porn. I looked at the origin and yes to my surprise it was Catholic. I thought I would share with you some of the verses against porn. You be the judge. Did God for see what was going to happen with man? Was Eve just the beginning of the plan to see how far humans would take it? I don’t know. I do know now that every where you look sex sells.
Eve held the forbidden fruit in her hand, and saw that it was pleasing to the eye (Genesis 3:6) Is this the beginning of porn? We are still paying for that sin to this day. 1 John 5:19 that the whole world is under the influence of the evil one. It's all part of his wicked deception (2 Thessalonians 2: 9-10) to make sin seem normal, right, and good. Sound familiar? We live this everyday. Mostly rationalizing with ourselves how this or that is right. We tend to twist it to make it right in our world, but is it right in Gods eyes. NO!
Leviticus 18:17: You shall not uncover the nakedness of a woman and of her daughter, and you shall not take her son's daughter or her daughter's daughter to uncover her nakedness; they are your near kinswomen; it is wickedness.
When you are addicted to porn you tend to become introverted. You love no one not even yourself. This behavior goes against Gods will. The Ten Commandments say to: love God with your whole heart, and to love your neighbor as yourself. Looking at porn does not allow you to do that. It brings lustful thoughts not what God had in mind. It is however exactly what the devil wants. It is easy for the devil to pull you in and make you wander off the path of God when there is lust in your heart. The only lust you should feel is the lust of serving our Lord. Matthew 5:28: But I say to you that every one who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. I love this verse. It clears up the mentality of “well we never had sex” according to the Bible you did.
God knows his path and has laid it out for us in very simple terms. The Bible is full of verse that cuts a clear path to our Lord. His words to me in this verse are very clear. Luke 12:34: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Think about it for a minute. Where is your heart? Is it with God? Is it with your family? I know mine is. I treasure them more than any porn site. My love of Christ and my family keep me strong. It keeps me from going back into the Hell in which I once lived. Porn is just that. It is Hell on earth. The sad part is when we die we will also pay for that again.
Sirach 7:8: Do not commit a sin twice; even for one you will not go unpunished.
