A local Catholic lady and her family bring cheer to the children in the Pahrump Valley for the second year in the row.

The charitable organization known as Positive Pahrump went out and garnered $3,000 in funds to buy gifts for over 36 families in the valley, 100 individual students for angel trees, and supplemented the U.S. Post office Santa letters.

Stephanie Lopez, head of Positive Pahrump, started the toy drive last year with her friend, Pahrump Firefighter, Dustin Knutson. She said, "We were talking at a PTO meeting while putting together some food baskets when we said it would be a good idea to give gifts to kids that had none. Within 48 hours we had enough gifts for 30 families." She added,"The main difference besides being much bigger this year is last year Dustin and I spent close to $9000 of our own money and this year we have $3,000 of donated money to shop with right off."

This year Lopez will have her annual drive on Saturday Dec. 17 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. down at the local 4068 union Hall on 160 Emery St. There toys will be accepted and money. The organization needs $800 more for kids still on their list.
