Lent is here!!!
Posted On 02/17/2010 09:02:45 by bogey412

Lent is the time when we as Christians prepare ourselves for the Resurrection of Jesus.

We pray do penitence, and fast so that we are ready to accept Jesus.  It was at this time last year that I knew I wanted to be a Catholic.  My love for Catholicism grew stronger with each mass and it grows stronger still.

Since Lent is associated with fasting and denial I have been thinking about what I am going to give up this season.  My conclusion was sweets.  It will help me to stay healthier and also maybe lose a little more weight.

Then I thought what am I going to do to strengthen my faith?  I am already enrolled in the RCIA program.  So I decided to read more from my bible.

Since I started RCIA I have been fascinated with the history and the stories of our faith.  It is amazing to me to see how our faith started and grew.  I am going to try to learn more about this each week.

With this I hope to draw more members here to Catholic America Today.  I think it would be nice to start a bible study in the chat room.  Perhaps share our views on some of the scriptures.

Come join me and strengthen our faith together.

As you well said Lent means PRAYER, FASTING AND CHARITY. I decided this Lent, to love more and hate less; do my best to avoid anger; to refrain from judging others; to complain less or not complain at all; to try to forgive and forget those that trespass against me; to eat less and drink less wine; to stop overspending and donate to charity money saved; to smile more and make others around me happy by helping all in need. As a prayer there is nothing better, in my opinion, than going to Mass every day in Lent. This is possible for me now, a pensioner; I know it may be difficult for others who have to go to work everyday. I did not go to Mass everyday before I retired.
