The disciples vision pf Jesus' deified human form revealed to them not only the glory of God, but also what it means to be fully human. Tabor, the mountain of the vision, discloses the answer to the daily seductions we are bound to face. Once lost in desolate emptiness, the Self is subsequently rediscovered through union with God, This is what the Lenten journey is about. The mountain, in biblical imagery, is an image of the soul as it lifts itself up in contemplation, thus participating in a sort of transfiguration, experiencing that loving presence of God which cleanses our hearts of temptations and all that is disorderly. The transfiguration is the illumination of our hearts, the grace that makes us divine. ( Ideas expressed by Fr. Rene Camilleri, Malta, this Sunday. )
